We are thrilled to announce an exceptional opportunity for viola and violin students of all levels to participate in an exclusive two-day masterclass with the distinguished concert soloist and Peter Conelius Conservatory professor Burghard Tölke.

This masterclass will take place on May 30–31, 2025, at the Aydın Gün Hall of Ankara State Opera and Ballet, a central venue known for its cultural significance and acoustical quality. The program offers a rare opportunity to refine your technique and artistry under the guidance of a leading figure in string performance and pedagogy.
 

As many young string players prepare for entrance exams at prestigious conservatories and international competitions, this masterclass provides a valuable platform to receive personalized guidance, refine repertoire, and develop stage experience.

Participants of the masterclass who demonstrate outstanding performance will be recommended by Prof. Burghard Tölke or his esteemed colleagues for admission to his own class or to leading conservatories in Europe.

Burghard Tölke:
Born in Hannover, Prof. Burghard Tölke is a distinguished violinist, violist, and conductor. He began his violin studies at the age of eight with Barbara Rau-Reuter in Bad Pyrmont. His musical education took him through Weimar, Detmold, and the Juilliard School in New York, before completing his studies in Vienna at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna, where he earned the academic degrees Master of Arts and Master of Arts Education.
 

He studied with legendary musicians such as Norbert Brainin (Amadeus Quartet), Vladimir Malinin, Isaac Stern, Thomas Christian (student of Jascha Heifetz), and Florian Zwiauer (Concertmaster of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra). He is a multiple first prize winner and scholarship recipient in competitions such as Jugend Musiziert, Fidelio Wettbewerb, and Gradus ad Parnassum.

Prof. Tölke has received additional artistic inspiration from Zakhar Bron, Herwig Zack, and Igor Petrushevski, and has participated in masterclasses with Yehudi Menuhin, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Roman Totenberg, Siegmund Nissel, and Viktor Tretyakov. He completed his conducting studies under Prof. Christian Schulz.
 

He is in high demand as a guest concertmaster and soloist around the world. He served as the director of the Staatsbad Philharmonie Kissingen and held a professorship in violin and viola at the Richard Wagner Conservatory in Vienna. Since January 2022, he has been a faculty member at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory of the City of Frankfurt-Mainz, where he also leads the Cornelius Strings Orchestra.

His masterclasses regularly take him to Japan, France, and the United States, where he is praised for his inspiring and deeply insightful teaching approach.
